The first of (quite likely) many Disney Princess interpretations. I'm going to try and be as close to the original as I can, but with princesses like Cinderella, I'll probably put her in a period bustle gown, or something like that, rather than her simple blue gown. So technically I'll be historically accurate to the time period they're all based in.

I figure it's like this:

Princess Jasmine = medieval Arabia
Snow White = Tudor-ish (1500s)
Sleeping Beauty = 1300s (after all, it was Prince Phillip that said, "Father, you're living in the past! This is the 14th century!")
Cinderella = late 1800s...either 1880s or 1890s...
Ariel = 1600s France
Belle = 1700s France
Pocahontas = 1600s America
Mulan = Ming Dynasty China (1300-1600)
Alice = 1860s England

I realize the last 3 aren't really princesses, but they're classic Disney heroines all the same. I really look forward to doing these!

As for this particular submission, it was mostly for practice. I wanted to experiment with the transparency effect again because that was really fun to do. It wasn't as easy this time because of the sheer amount of color layers that went on, hence why the green curtains can't exactly be seen through the golden curtains...but it kinda worked out to make it seem further away from the golden curtains, which would--in respect to the space--be realistic.

I like this. The wild hair is what caught my eye at first, it's something that always amuses me in artwork. I'm not totally sure the yellow silk curtain worked completely but as you said, it was experiment time so I'll leave that alone (and also the omission of underwear from Jasmine, hehe). But anyways, overall nice work. I like the work on the folds and the realistic Rajah is just cool. The Disney version reminds me to much of a cuter Sheer Khan.

As to your general idea of this series of Disney heroine drawings, I think it's a cool idea, though I have to point out a couple of missing ones (in mock evil voices if you can interpret that into your reading of the comment from here on out). Where are Miss Bianca, Lilo and (possibly to a lesser extent) Tinkerbell. I'd argue Minnie Mouse but she wasn't technically in the feature films, just the shorts.

Anyhoo (mock evil voice over), awesome work, can't wait to see more. \/^.^\/

I suppose some of the things I do might make me a "bad person" by definition, but I don't care. If those around me can't stop from doing silly things, who am I to help them hide said things from the rest of the world? I'm gonna point it out and laugh!

It's so cool to see a more realistic version of Jasmine! And Rajah too, I always loved him in the movie. <3 I can't wait to see your other princess drawings--I'm sure they will be just as astounding as this one. ^-^

Yeah, sadly I totally screwed up those curtains...but then again the end product is seldom what you expected it to be. :shrug: :)

I almost thought about doing the Disney villains...Maleficent was always my favorite, if only for her name.

Yeah, that's why you cleverly cover it by calling it experimenting (unless you really mean it, then, well, it still works doesn't it?).

But yeah, that would be an awesome idea too. Between both you'd have drawing ideas to last you years.

What did you use to make this? Very nice! I really love the colors.

Also, Aladin can probably be blamed for why I love tigers so much.
